Traditional French Bread Pizza

Familiar Comfort, Baked and Honest

There's something quietly satisfying about bread pizza — not in spite of its simplicity, but because of it. It belongs to a particular kind of cooking that doesn't require justification: weeknight intuition, the open refrigerator, the need for something warm and immediate. A good baguette, split and dressed, becomes something generous in the oven. The edges crisp, the center softens, and the whole thing asks very little of you while giving quite a lot back. Some dishes earn their place not through complexity, but through constancy.

Ingredients

  • 2 8oz baguette loaves
  • 1 cup Alessi Smooth Marinara
  • 1 cup shredded Italian cheese
  • Assorted pizza toppings to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cut baguettes in half across then again lengthwise.
  3. Spread marinara evenly over bread.
  4. Top with shredded cheese and assorted pizza toppings.
  5. Bake for 18 minutes until cheese is melted.
  6. Broil on high for an additional 2 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing.
